Myki Ticket System - Low Customer Service Standards

Although the media has covered the problems with the Myki ticket system (the Victorian public transport ticket system). I thought I would highlight a different side to the sytem, which is the low standards of customer service they aspire to.

From retruning my defective ticket it has taken more than two months to have a new ticket issued (which as of today I have still not recevied in the mail).

I passed this onto customer services so that they could use this information to review their own processes.

I was told by customer services that:

...... there are some instances where cards have taken slightly longer than expected .....

Does this mean that in normal curcumstances it would have taken up a month to resolve, that would still be unacceptable, I do not see how two months to issue a public transport ticket can defined as 'slighty longer'.

That is pathetic.

Golden Plains 2010

Just a few comments while they are somewhat fresh ..... photos to come later.

Golden Plains has always been the Meredith Music Festival's little sister/brother, he/she grew up going to Meredith and is now old enough to give it a crack themselves.

What makes it a great fesitval was that it has always had a little attitude (without being arrogant), a smaller crowd to Meredith (numbers not the height of the punters) and generally picked a great selection of new bands.

This years festival was a little different, it was a tribute to its older sibling with a fair few of the bands prominent in the 90's (Pavement, Dinosaur Jr, Nashville Pussy, Ransom, The Cruel Sea).

I don't intend this to be a critisism (far from it), all the above mentioned bands were fantastic (possibly better than they were in the 90's). Combine these bands with the smaller crowd size and you almost felt you were back at the Meredith Music festival in the 90's (except for the fact that the festival has moved slightly down the road since the early days).

back to work, more to come later .......

Souk, 194 Commercial Rd, Prahran

http://www.souq.com.au/

After scraping myself out of bed on Saturday morning I decided to that I needed a healthy start to day ........ bugger that I want bacon.

Having walked past Souk many times I decided to check out this middle eastern themed restaurant for breakfast.

The poached eggs I ordered appeared to be cooked separately (one was almost rubber with a hard yoke, the other rubber with a soft yoke), I got the feeling that it had been partially cooked under the lights on the Chefs serving bench. The moroccan beans were only warm and became cold before within a few minutes.

Coffee was fine and service was ok, but a little slow given they were not busy.

It was not the worst meal I have ever had ..... but I don't think I will be heading back.

Orbital, 19/02/2010, Billboards, Melbourne

Checked out Orbital last night who have reformed to celebrate their 20th Anniversary. It looked like they put their studio into a truck and set it up on stage. Fucking great idea.

It was an awesome reminder of how good live electronic music can be.

Any act can just play music, but without passion or intensity you might as well be listening to a cd. This is more evident when it comes to electronic music. Orbital are just two brothers twiddling knobs with caving lights on their heads, but the energy they throw into their performances elevates them far above most live acts today.

Awesome set (including Chime, Satan, One Perfect Sunrise, Belfast) and they threw in a guilty pleasure (mixing Belinda Carlisle's Heaven Is A Place On Earth and Bon Jovi's You Give Love A Bad Name followed by the theme to Dr Who).
